"shinglebells"

So the other weekend was our annual cabin trip with my family to pauls' family cabin. they are so awesome for letting us do this each year! we do have our own family cabin, but it is 8 hours away. so it makes it nice when we want to get away real quick, that it is so close so people can come and go as they need. especially with work. we love family get togethers. we missed my brother and his family though.. i guess i understand that bahrain may be a little too far away to just come for a few days ;) gosh i sure miss them!
none the less, we still had a good time!
you have to snowmobile in in the winter, so paul and i went a day early and hauled everything in and got it all ready. he was a trooper hauling things and people the whole time! ..and might i add, is quite talented on those things. it still makes me nervous seeing what he can do with those machines. but he loves it, and i love him. so there!
it was the weekend of a huge snow storm, so there was SO much snow to be had!
to be honest, i really was not in the mood to go up this year, i was just kind of over the snow.. but once we got up there, i had a lot of fun!
i love watching my dad up there. he is and outdoor guy, so he loves it all. but the funnest thing was watching him build the sledding hills. it's kind of out of his character to do so, so we love to take advantage of the moment and enjoy it! we built two hills next to the cabin. it can be so freaky because you are weaving in and out of trees hoping the slopes are built just right that you won't nail any of them. it's pretty exciting!
here are some pics of the trip
aiden calls snowmobiles, shinglebells. it took us the whole trip to figure out what he was saying. love that little man!

small things, for a big price

have you ever wondered why some things, in this instance small things, sometimes cost more than larger things? things we would perceive to cost much less than others so large.
we had to get a small projector fixed at work the other day, all it needed was a tiny little part to get it to work. it was going to cost more to get that piece replaced than it would to just purchase a brand new projector.
gosh it feels like so many things are this way these days.
it got me thinking...
sometimes i feel like life can be this way too. there are often things in our lives that need fixing or tuning, for me constantly, and we have the choice to address those things and make it better. no matter how much that thing has "cost" us or how much it has affected everything else in our life, we have the choice to either fix it or let it go and go without. and depending on the circumstance, either can be a good thing. i have to remind myself of this sometimes.
none the less, we manage to pull through it no matter the cost.
i am so grateful for all of the experiences that have gotten me to where i am at in life today.

my patience and i have been a little testy at work...
-no i don't speak spanish, and no one else here does either.
-no we don't want a free subscription to your magazine.
-we shouldn't allow your benefit race or anyone elses to be held in our park, to much of a hassle.
-NO REFUNDS PERIOD
-why don't you call your team manager and ask them your game times.
-i don't care how good you think your child is, no, they can't play up a grade.
-NO REFUNDS PERIOD
-sorry ma'am, it is after the deadline.. there is a $5 late fee.
-what do you not understand about THERE ARE NO MORE SPOTS AVAILABLE IN THIS PROGRAM FOR YOUR CHILD TO PLAY.

just some things i've been wanting to yell at the person i'm dealing with to get the point across to them..
but i just have to remember that, the person on the other end doesn't know the answer to the question they are asking, that is why they are asking it.. no matter how obvious we might think it is. we've been in the business for how long, so of course we know the answer.

thanks for listening to my vent session
take care!
